Della Van Hise

Della Van Hise (1955-2021) was an American writer born in Tampa, Florida, known for tie-in fiction set in the Star Trek universe. Her best-known novel, Killing Time (1985), became a minor publishing legend: an early manuscript retaining romantic subtext between Kirk and Spock, drawn from her earlier fan fiction, was accidentally printed intact before Paramount required its recall and revision, making the original first printing a sought-after collector's item. Van Hise also published several collections of poetry, including The Effect of Moonlight on Tombstones and Rumors of Vampires, alongside further fiction such as Ragged Angels and No Forwarding Address.
