Donald Tyson (born 1954 in Nova Scotia, Canada) is a Canadian occult scholar and author. He has written more than a dozen nonfiction books on Western esoteric traditions for the publisher Llewellyn, alongside a body of fiction built around H. P. Lovecraft's Necronomicon mythos. His 2004 book Necronomicon: The Wanderings of Alhazred presents itself as a translation and history of the fictional grimoire's supposed author, Abdul Alhazred, and he followed it with the novel Alhazred (2006), which dramatizes the same figure's life. His later Cthulhu Mythos fiction includes The Lovecraft Coven and The Red Stone of Jubbah, extending his project of building an internally consistent occult mythology around Lovecraft's invented text.
