Donna Maree Hanson

Donna Maree Hanson is an Australian writer and editor of science fiction and fantasy. She first became known within Australian genre circles as an anthology editor, co-editing Encounters and The Grinding House with Maxine McArthur, and as the author of the survey Australian Speculative Fiction: A Genre Overview. As a novelist she writes across several series, including the Dragon Wine epic fantasies Shatterwing and Skywatcher, the space-opera Rayessa adventures for younger readers such as Rayessa and the Space Pirates and Rae and Essa's Space Adventures, and the urban fantasy Johnny Phillips, Werewolf Detective books. Her work ranges from big-canvas dragon fantasy to lighter space adventure and contemporary supernatural mystery, reflecting a career spent moving between editing, criticism, and fiction across the Australian small-press and genre scene.
