Douglas E. Richards

Douglas E. Richards is an American author of science-based thrillers, born in 1962. He trained as a scientist before turning to fiction, holding a degree in microbiology from Ohio State University, a master's in genetic engineering from the University of Wisconsin, and an MBA from the University of Chicago, and worked in biotechnology licensing at Bristol-Myers Squibb. His novels, including the Nick Hall series (Mind's Eye, Split Second) and the Wired duology, use his technical background to ground high-concept premises — mind-reading, brain augmentation, genetic engineering — in plausible science while keeping the pace of a conventional thriller. A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author with more than three million books sold and translations into eight languages, he has appeared as a guest at San Diego Comic-Con and had his science writing featured by National Geographic and the BBC.
