E. J. Swift

E. J. Swift is a British speculative fiction writer based in London whose novels examine climate change, migration, and the politics of scarcity. She debuted with Osiris (2012), opening the Osiris Project trilogy, set in a floating city cut off from a flooded world, and continued it with Cataveiro (2013) and Tamaruq (2015). She then wrote Paris Adrift (2018), a time-travel novel set in a Parisian bar, and The Coral Bones (2022), which links three women across different eras to the fate of the Great Barrier Reef. Her novel When There Are Wolves Again (2025), written as a companion piece exploring the same climate themes from another angle, won the Arthur C. Clarke Award and the British Science Fiction Association's Best Novel award. Swift has published short fiction since 2012 and is known for pairing ecological anxiety with intimate, character-driven storytelling.
