E. K. Johnston

E. K. Johnston is a Canadian novelist and forensic archaeologist born in Huron East, Ontario. Her 2015 novel A Thousand Nights, a retelling drawing on the One Thousand and One Nights framework, established her as a distinctive voice in young-adult fantasy, and she has since become one of the more prolific contributors to the Star Wars expanded universe, writing Ahsoka, the Padmé-focused Queen's Shadow trilogy (Queen's Shadow, Queen's Peril, Queen's Hope), and stories for the High Republic line. Her other novels include Exit, Pursued by a Bear, a contemporary story addressing sexual assault and its aftermath that won the Amy Mathers Teen Book Award, and That Inevitable Victorian Thing. Johnston's fiction moves between original fantasy, contemporary realism, and licensed Star Wars tie-ins with equal facility.
