Ed McDonald is a fantasy author best known for two connected series set in the same shattered world. The Raven's Mark trilogy -- Blackwing, Ravencry, and Crowfall -- follows a bounty hunter operating along a magically poisoned frontier known as the Misery, blending grimdark fantasy with a noir, world-weary tone. McDonald returned to the same setting years later in the Redwinter Chronicles, beginning with Daughter of Redwinter and continuing through Traitor of Redwinter and Witch Queen of Redwinter, which shift focus to a new protagonist navigating rival magical orders.
