Eleanor Herman

Eleanor Herman (born 1960) is an American author known for narrative nonfiction about European royal history, including Sex with Kings (2004), an account of royal mistresses that has been cited as a reference across historical scholarship on figures such as Madame du Barry and Françoise d'Aubigné. Building on that expertise, she turned to fiction with the young-adult fantasy series Blood of Gods and Royals, beginning with Legacy of Kings, which reimagines the early life of Alexander the Great in a world of court intrigue and hidden magic, and continuing through Empire of Dust, Reign of Serpents, and Dawn of Legends. Her work moves between meticulously researched popular history and fantastical reinterpretations of the same courtly power struggles that define her nonfiction.
