Eliza Chan is a Scottish fantasy author, born in Glasgow in 1984. She writes fantasy steeped in East and Southeast Asian mythology and folklore, most notably her Drowned World series, which opened with the debut novel Fathomfolk (2024), following siren, water-dragon, and other folkloric water spirits navigating a class-divided floating city. Published by Orbit Books, the novel was shortlisted for the 2025 British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel. She continued the series with Tideborn (2025) and the forthcoming Harbour of Hungry Ghosts (2026). Chan also writes short fiction and is active in the wider speculative fiction community, contributing to genre anthologies alongside her novel-length work.
