Prince George, British Columbia, Canada

Elsie Chapman is a Canadian author of speculative fiction for young readers. Raised in Prince George, British Columbia, and educated in English literature at the University of British Columbia, she now lives in Toronto. She is best known for the dystopian duology Dualed and Divided, in which a girl raised to fight her own genetic double must decide whether to keep killing or find another way to survive, and for the fantasy novel Caster. Chapman also co-edited, with Ellen Oh, the young-adult anthology A Thousand Beginnings and Endings, gathering short fiction that reimagines East and South Asian folklore and myth for a contemporary audience, and has contributed to further genre anthologies. Her work pairs high-concept premises with intimate coming-of-age stakes, and her editorial projects have helped widen the range of voices in YA speculative fiction.
