Emily Skrutskie is an American author of young adult science fiction and fantasy, born in 1993. Her debut, The Abyss Surrounds Us, launched a queer sea-monster duology continuing in The Edge of the Abyss, and she followed it with the space-opera Bloodright Trilogy — Bonds of Brass, Vows of Empire, and Oaths of Legacy. She has also written the standalone novel Hullmetal Girls and the novella The Salvation Gambit, and contributed to the Star Wars anthology series From a Certain Point of View. Skrutskie's fiction consistently centers queer protagonists across science-fictional and fantastical settings, from oceanic monster-hunting to interstellar military conflict.
