Emmie Mears

Emmie Mears is a Scottish author based in Glasgow who writes fantasy and urban fantasy alongside her work as an award-winning Gaelic singer and songwriter. She began her Shrike series with The Masked Songbird, following a young Scottish woman navigating a hidden superhuman identity, and continued with further urban fantasy and portal-fantasy series including Ayala Storme and Stonebreaker, spanning titles such as Eye of the Storm, Storm in a Teacup, Hearthfire, and Windtaker. Her fiction has earned starred reviews from Kirkus and Publishers Weekly, and she was a 2023 finalist for both the Andre Norton Award and the Walden Award. Outside of writing, Mears performs with several Gaelic choirs and has represented Scotland at Eurovision Choir and the Pan-Celtic Festival in Ireland.
