Eric Brown

Eric Brown (1960-2023) was a British science fiction author and longtime books columnist for The Guardian, born in Haworth, Yorkshire. He began publishing short fiction in Interzone in the late 1980s and was voted Best New European SF Writer of the Year in the early 1990s; he later won the BSFA Award twice, for the stories "Hunting the Slarque" (1999) and "Children of Winter" (2001). His novels include Helix, Necropath, Kéthani, and The Kings of Eternity, alongside series such as the Bengal Station trilogy, the Virex trilogy of New York Nights, New York Blues, and New York Dreams, and the Telemass Quartet. Extensive travel through Greece and Asia informed much of his fiction, with several novels set in India.
