F. C. Yee

F. C. Yee is an American author known for his young-adult fantasy fiction. He co-wrote the Kyoshi novels—The Rise of Kyoshi and The Shadow of Kyoshi—with Avatar: The Last Airbender co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino, expanding the animated franchise's world through the earlier life of Avatar Kyoshi, a warrior born centuries before the show's events who becomes one of the setting's most formidable and controversial Avatars. Yee's prose in the series has been noted for weaving political intrigue and questions of cultural identity into the franchise's established world. He also created the contemporary fantasy Genie Lo duology, The Epic Crush of Genie Lo and The Iron Will of Genie Lo, which reimagines the Chinese classic Journey to the West through a modern-day Bay Area teenager. He continued the Kyoshi story with The Legacy of Yangchen and related novels centered on a later Avatar.
