Frederic S. Durbin

Frederic S. Durbin is an American author of fantasy and horror, born in Taylorville, Illinois, in 1966. His debut novel, Dragonfly (1999), a horror tale published by Arkham House in a limited edition of 4,000 copies, established the atmospheric, folklore-inflected style that runs through his later work. He has since published several further novels, including The Star Shard (2012) and A Green and Ancient Light (2016), along with short fiction gathered in the collection Paradigm Shifts: Typewritten Tales of Digital Collapse (2019) as part of his ongoing Cold Hard Type series. His most recent novel, The Country Under Heaven, appeared in 2025.
