Freya Marske is an Australian author of fantasy and romance who works as a medical doctor. She is best known for The Last Binding trilogy, an Edwardian-era fantasy of magic and forbidden romance comprising A Marvellous Light (2021), A Restless Truth (2022), and A Power Unbound (2023), which received a Hugo Award nomination for Best Series in 2024. Her subsequent novels, including Swordcrossed (2024) and Cinder House (2025), continue her focus on richly worldbuilt queer romance within secondary-world fantasy settings. Marske won the Ditmar Award for Best New Talent in 2020 and an Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Novella in 2025, and for several years co-hosted the Hugo-nominated podcast Be the Serpent.
