Gareth Hanrahan

Gareth Hanrahan is an Irish novelist and game designer from Cork, whose earlier career included writing and line-developing tabletop roleplaying games for Mongoose Publishing, Pelgrane Press, and Cubicle 7, including ENnie Award wins for The Laundry RPG and for the Pathfinder-compatible Lorefinder sourcebook. He turned that grounding in richly systematized worldbuilding toward fiction with the Black Iron Legacy trilogy, The Gutter Prayer, The Shadow Saint, and The Broken God, a gothic steampunk sequence set in the city of Guerdon, modeled loosely on his native Cork. He followed it with the Lands of the Firstborn trilogy, beginning with The Sword Defiant, and has also written tie-in fiction for Warhammer 40,000. Hanrahan's fantasy is marked by dense, game-like world logic paired with a strong sense of civic and historical texture.
