Gary Alan Ruse is an American science-fiction and fantasy author born in Miami, Florida, on August 24, 1946. He began publishing short fiction with "Nanda" in Analog in 1972, before his debut novel Houndstooth (1975) introduced a spy dog fitted with a computer implant that lets its handlers see through its eyes. He followed with the technothriller A Game of Titans (1976) and the planetary-adventure novel The Gods of Cerus Major (1982), then turned to fantasy with Morlac: The Quest of the Green Magician (1986). More recently he has written the Aggie & Agent X mystery series, beginning in 2012, and gathered further short fiction in Mysteries at Midnight (2012).
