Gary Gibson is a Scottish science-fiction author born in 1965 in Glasgow. His debut novel, Angel Stations (2004), and its follow-up, Against Gravity (2005), were both nominated for British Fantasy Society awards. He is best known for the Shoal Sequence, a space-opera series beginning with Stealing Light and continuing through Nova War, Empire of Light, and Marauder, following recurring characters Dakota Merrick and Lucas Corso across a galaxy shaped by an ancient, secretive alien species. He has also written The Final Days series, an Apocalypse duology, and the ongoing Echogenesis series.
