Gene O'Neill

Gene O'Neill is an American author of science fiction, fantasy, and horror, born in 1938, who began his professional writing career after attending the Clarion West Writers Workshop in 1979. Before writing full-time he worked as a postal worker, served as a Marine, and played college basketball, holding degrees from California State University, Sacramento and the University of Minnesota. He is best known for the Cal Wild series, including The Burden of Indigo, The Confessions of St. Zach, and Doc Good's Traveling Show, and for detective fiction collected as The Crime Files of Katy Green. O'Neill won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Fiction Collection in 2010 for The Taste of Tenderloin, and received additional Stoker nominations for the novella Balance and for The Confessions of St. Zach.
