Howard Koch

Howard Everard Koch was an American playwright and screenwriter. He was best known for co-writing the Casablanca (1942) screenplay, for which he shared an Academy Award. In 1947 he was one of the "Hollywood Nineteen", the initial group of so-called "unfriendly" film artists targeted by the House Un-American Activities Committee. After ending up on the Hollywood blacklist, Koch moved to England and wrote under a pseudonym before returning to the U.S. and resuming his screenwriting career.
