Ian Ogilvy

Ian Ogilvy is an English actor, playwright, and novelist born in Woking, Surrey, in 1943, to a family with ties to advertising executive David Ogilvy and actress Aileen Raymond. Educated at Eton College and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, he built a long stage and screen career, best known for starring as Simon Templar in the television series Return of the Saint (1978-79) and for extensive West End and American theatre work. In the 2000s Ogilvy turned to children's fiction, creating the Measle Stubbs series, which follows an orphan boy battling a sinister wizard called a Wrathmonk after being shrunk and imprisoned in a model railway. The series combines the comic, macabre inventiveness of his acting background with adventure aimed at young readers, and remains his primary literary work to date.
