J. H. Moncrieff

J. H. Moncrieff writes horror, mystery, and supernatural suspense under an initialized pen name. She won a Harlequin-sponsored writing competition in 2016 for a manuscript hailed as the work of "the next Gillian Flynn." Her novella The Bear Who Wouldn't Leave, included in Samhain's Childhood Fears anthology, spent more than a year on horror bestseller charts, and her deep-sea creature thriller Monsters in Our Wake topped Amazon's horror bestseller list. She is best known for the GhostWriters supernatural-suspense series, spanning novels such as City of Ghosts (2017), Those Who Came Before (2019), Temple of Ghosts (2017), and Book of the Dead (2021), praised by Kirkus, Booklist, and Midwest Book Review. She also writes the Nat McPherson, SpellSight, and Flora Duchovney series. Critics have compared her fiction to "early Gillian Flynn with a little Ray Bradbury and Stephen King."
