J. J. Green is a British-Australian science fiction author born in London who has lived in Australia, Laos, and Taiwan before settling in Cambridge, England. Her fiction combines hard science-fiction speculation with personal, character-driven stories exploring environmental collapse, political conflict, and technological ethics, typically centered on strong female protagonists. She is best known for the Shadows of the Void space opera series and the interstellar-colonization Interstellar Fleet books, alongside the fantasy-tinged Star Mage Saga and Star Legend series and the lighter, adventure-driven Carrie Hatchett, Space Adventurer novels. Green also writes Building New Canaan and Lost to Tomorrow, continuing her focus on humanity's survival and reinvention across hostile frontiers.
