J. Scott Coatsworth

J. Scott Coatsworth is an American writer of speculative fiction who lives in Sacramento with his husband of more than thirty years. Introduced to science fiction and fantasy by his mother at nine, he came out at twenty-three and has since made LGBTQ+ representation central to his work, publishing more than a dozen novels and forty stories across science fiction, fantasy, and magical realism. His debut novel, Skythane, opened the Liminal Sky sequence (comprising the Ariadne, Oberon, and Redemption cycles), and he has also written the climate-themed Tharassan Cycle, beginning with The Stark Divide. He co-runs the community sites Queer Sci Fi and QueeRomance Ink with his husband and became a full member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 2020.
