J. V. Jones

J. V. Jones is a fantasy author born in 1963 in Liverpool, England, who has lived in both Britain and the United States. Her debut trilogy, The Book of Words, beginning with The Baker's Boy (1995), established her within epic fantasy, and she returned to the same world with a considerably darker tone in the Sword of Shadows series, beginning with A Cavern of Black Ice (1999) and continuing across five volumes to date, including A Fortress of Grey Ice and Watcher of the Dead. She has also written the standalone novel The Barbed Coil (1997). Jones has cited Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, and J. R. R. Tolkien among her formative influences, and her debut novel achieved bestseller status on release.
