Jack Skillingstead

Jack Skillingstead is an American science fiction writer born in Seattle in 1955. He has published more than 47 short stories in genre magazines, most prominently Asimov's Science Fiction, collected in Are You There and Other Stories and The Whole Mess and Other Stories. His novels include Harbinger, Life on the Preservation, and The Chaos Function. He won Stephen King's "On Writing" short story contest in 2001, and his fiction has been a finalist for both the Philip K. Dick Award and the Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Award; critic John Clute wrote that his early work "augurs a major career." He is married to fellow science fiction writer Nancy Kress and lives in the Seattle area.
