Jaine Fenn is a British science fiction author who studied linguistics and astronomy at the University of Hertfordshire, where she was involved in the university's student science-fiction society, and has since written narrative material for major video-game franchises including Halo and Total War. She is best known for the Hidden Empire series, five novels beginning with her debut Principles of Angels and continuing through Guardians of Paradise, Consorts of Heaven, Bringer of Light, and Queen of Nowhere, set in a far-future society built around a hidden, city-spanning empire, with the related story collection Downside Girls. She followed it with the science-fantasy Shadowlands duology, Hidden Sun and Broken Shadow, and has won a BSFA Award for her short fiction.
