Jake Halpern

Jake Halpern (born 1975) is an American writer, radio commentator, and podcast producer from Buffalo, New York. A Yale graduate and former Fulbright Scholar, he has written for The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, and other outlets, and produced stories for NPR's All Things Considered and This American Life. His nonfiction books include Braving Home, Fame Junkies, and the New York Times bestseller Bad Paper. With illustrator Michael Sloan he created the comic Welcome to the New World about a family of Syrian refugees, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning in 2018. Halpern also co-writes young-adult fantasy novels with Peter Kujawinski, beginning with Dormia (2009) and continuing through World's End, Nightfall, and Edgeland.
