James Aquilone

James Aquilone is an American horror and dark-fantasy writer and anthology editor. As editor of the graphic novel Kolchak: The Night Stalker - 50th Anniversary (2022), he won the Bram Stoker Award for Best Graphic Novel from the Horror Writers Association. He is the creator of the Dead Jack series, a set of comic horror novellas following a wisecracking, undead antihero through pulp-inflected supernatural adventures such as Dead Jack and the Old Gods and Dead Jack and the Pandemonium Device. Aquilone has also edited horror-comedy anthologies including the Unleashed series, which reimagines classic monsters and literary figures in books like Shakespeare Unleashed and Classic Monsters Unleashed, as well as the Dark Tide anthologies. Beyond prose, he has written comics, including the miniseries Shrapnel. His work blends genuine scares with a wry, comic sensibility across both his editing and his own fiction.
