James Ponti is an American author of middle-grade mystery and adventure fiction, born in Pisa, Italy. He is known for three interconnected mystery series for young readers: Dead City, about a secret society that battles zombies in New York City; Framed!, following a boy who helps solve art heists in Washington, D.C.; and City Spies, about a team of young intelligence operatives. Framed! won the 2019 Mark Twain Readers Award, a Missouri schoolchildren's readers'-choice prize for books aimed at grades four through six. Ponti has also written junior novelizations for film franchises including Prince of Persia and Pirates of the Caribbean.
