James Wallis

James Wallis (born 1966) is a British tabletop and role-playing game designer and writer. He co-created the award-winning card game Once Upon a Time (1993) with Andrew Rilstone and Richard Lambert, and designed The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1998), later named among "The Millennium's Best Games" and an Origins Award nominee. He founded Hogshead Publishing in 1994, a specialist publisher of storytelling and role-playing games, and established the Diana Jones Award for excellence in gaming in 2001. Alongside his game work, Wallis has written fiction for Games Workshop's Warhammer setting, including Hammers of Ulric and the Marks of Chaos trilogy (Mark of Damnation, Mark of Heresy, Mark of Mutation). He has also worked as a narrative consultant and journalist, contributing to the Sunday Times.
