Jane Routley is an Australian fantasy author, born in 1962 in Melbourne. Her debut novel, Mage Heart (1996), began the Dion Demonslayer series, following a servant girl whose forbidden study of magic draws her into political intrigue; the sequels Fire Angels and Aramaya each won the Aurealis Award for Best Fantasy Novel, in 1998 and 1999 respectively. She also writes the Tari series and, under the pseudonym Rebecca Locksley, the novel The Three Sisters. Routley's fiction blends domestic detail and morally complicated heroines with traditional epic-fantasy scale, and her short fiction has been nominated for the Ditmar Award. Her work has been translated into Dutch and German, and she continues to publish new novels, including The Melded Child and A Shining Knight.
