Janet Chapman

Janet Chapman was an American author of contemporary and paranormal romance, born in northern Maine. A New York Times bestseller, she built her career on the Highlander series, eight novels beginning with Charming the Highlander that bring a medieval Scottish warrior into the modern-day woods of Maine. She continued the blend of small-town romance and light fantasy in the Midnight Bay trilogy and the Spellbound Falls series, her longest, which ran to eight books over nearly a decade. Across roughly thirty novels and six series, Chapman's fiction consistently paired grounded Maine settings with fish-out-of-water magic, whether Highland warriors, wizards, or shapeshifters adjusting to contemporary life. She died on October 28, 2017, following a battle with cancer; the final Spellbound Falls novel was published posthumously.
