Jeff Carlson

Jeff Carlson (1969–2017) was an American science fiction and thriller novelist from Sunnyvale, California. He is best known for the Plague Year trilogy — Plague Year, Plague War, and Plague Zone — a near-future thriller in which a self-replicating nanotech weapon devours warm-blooded life above a certain altitude, forcing survivors into the mountains; Plague War was a Philip K. Dick Award finalist. He also wrote The Frozen Sky series, which grew out of his Writers of the Future-winning novelette of the same name and imagines the discovery of intelligent life beneath the ice of Jupiter's moon Europa. Later novels included Interrupt, published by Amazon's 47North imprint. Carlson died of lung cancer in 2017 at age forty-seven.
