Jennifer Donnelly

Jennifer Donnelly, born in 1963 in Port Chester, New York, is an American novelist of Irish descent whose historical fiction and young-adult novels span more than two decades. She earned a degree in English literature from the University of Rochester and later studied at Birkbeck College, University of London, before moving to Brooklyn to write full time. Her breakthrough novel, A Northern Light, won the 2004 Carnegie Medal, and she also wrote the Tea Rose historical trilogy and the novel Revolution. Her Waterfire Saga turns to fantasy, following a group of mermaid princesses across the world's oceans, and she has since written fairy-tale reimaginings including Stepsister and Poisoned, along with Beauty and the Beast: Lost in a Book. Donnelly lives in New York's Hudson Valley with her husband and daughter.
