Jesse Bullington

Jesse Bullington is an American fantasy novelist born in 1982, raised in Pennsylvania and now based in Boulder, Colorado. He earned dual bachelor's degrees in literature and history from Florida State University, a background that feeds the historically grounded, gothic-tinged grotesquerie of his fiction. His early novels, The Sad Tale of the Brothers Grossbart (2009), The Enterprise of Death (2011), and The Folly of the World (2012), are picaresque, darkly comic tales steeped in medieval and Renaissance history and art. Under the pen name Alex Marshall, he wrote the Crimson Empire trilogy, A Crown for Cold Silver (2015), A Blade of Black Steel (2016), and A War in Crimson Embers (2017), an epic fantasy centered on the outlaw warlord Cobalt Zosia. He has also edited the anthology Swords v. Cthulhu (2016).
