Jessica Spotswood

Jessica Spotswood is an American author and librarian best known for The Cahill Witch Chronicles, a historical fantasy trilogy set in an alternate, Puritan-inflected New England where magic is suppressed by a controlling religious government. She has also written the contemporary novels Wild Swans and The Last Summer of the Garrett Girls, and edited or co-edited several acclaimed YA anthologies, including A Tyranny of Petticoats, The Radical Element, and, with Tess Sharpe, Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft. Spotswood works as a children's library associate for the DC Public Library and lives in Washington, D.C., with her husband, mystery novelist Stephen Spotswood. Her next novel, The Harrow Home for Wayward Girls, is scheduled for 2026 from Henry Holt.
