Joan Frances Turner is an American author from Rhode Island best known for the Resurgam Trilogy, a literary horror sequence narrated from the perspective of the undead. The series opens with Dust (2010), continues with Frail (2011), and concludes with Grave (2014), following a community of zombies as they grapple with memory, identity, and social order after death. Rather than following conventional survival-horror plotting, the trilogy is largely narrated in the voice of its undead protagonist, giving the zombie novel an unusually introspective, literary register that drew attention for reworking familiar genre conventions through character-driven storytelling.
