Joe Donnelly

Joe Donnelly (born 1950) is a Scottish author from Glasgow best known for the Jack Flint series, a run of fantasy-adventure novels for young readers that sends its hero into a world of Celtic mythology, father-and-son conflict, and magical swords, including Jack Flint and the Redthorn Sword, Jack Flint and the Dark Ways, and Jack Flint and the Spellbinder's Curse. Before the Jack Flint books, Donnelly published a run of adult horror and dark-fantasy novels in the late 1980s and 1990s, including The Shee, Bane, Stone, Shrike, and Incubus. His fiction moves between visceral horror for adult readers and Celtic-flavored fantasy adventure for younger audiences, unified by a recurring interest in Scottish and Celtic folklore.
