Joelle Charbonneau

Joelle Charbonneau is an American author, born in 1974 in Chicago, Illinois, best known for the young adult dystopian series The Testing, beginning with The Testing, which follows a young woman selected for a brutal post-war university admissions process that doubles as a hidden survival trial, continuing through Independent Study and Graduation Day. She has also written the Eden duology (Dividing Eden, Eden Conquered), centered on rival royal twins competing for a throne, and the technothriller Verify and its sequel Disclose, which explore government surveillance and information control. Charbonneau's fiction is characterized by high-stakes competitive premises and morally compromised institutions, and before her writing career she worked as a professional opera singer and vocal performance teacher.
