John Marks

John Marks is an American writer and former television news producer who spent years working for 60 Minutes before turning to fiction. His novel Fangland, published in 2007, reimagines Bram Stoker's Dracula as a story of American television journalism, following a producer for a news program much like his own former employer into a Transylvania that turns out to hold real horrors. Told through e-mails, diary entries, and letters in the epistolary tradition of the original Dracula, the novel earned a World Fantasy Award nomination. Marks has otherwise built his career largely in journalism and nonfiction rather than genre fiction, making Fangland a rare crossover between his reporting background and horror storytelling.
