John Morressy (1930-2006) was an American writer of science fiction and fantasy, born in Brooklyn, New York, who taught as a professor of English at Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire. His science-fiction Del Whitby series ran to six novels between 1972 and 1983, from Starbrat through The Mansions of Space, while his Iron Angel fantasy sequence, including Ironbrand and Kingsbane, followed across the early 1980s. Morressy is perhaps best remembered for the humorous Kedrigern series, following a cynical, henpecked wizard through seven volumes published between 1986 and 2003, later extended with Young Kedrigern prequels that appeared only in Czech translation. He also published standalone novels, including The Blackboard Cavalier and The Juggler, and short fiction in venues including The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction and Playboy.
