Joseph Green

Joseph Green (1931-2026) was an American science fiction author and NASA public-affairs writer whose career spanned more than six decades. He began publishing short fiction in 1962 in magazines such as Analog and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, eventually producing more than seventy stories. His novel Gold the Man (1971, also published as The Mind Behind the Eye) is considered his strongest work, following a man with an enhanced mind forced to pilot an alien's body, while Conscience Interplanetary (1972) examines how an artificial being judges the worth of alien life, and The Loafers of Refuge (1965) opened his fix-up series about human and native colonists sharing a world. Later in life Green founded the small press Greenhouse Scribes, through which he continued publishing novels and collections from 2017 onward.
