Judy I. Lin

Judy I. Lin is a Taiwanese-Canadian author who moved to Canada at age eight and now lives on the Canadian prairies, dividing her time between writing and working as an occupational therapist. She debuted with the young adult fantasy duology A Magic Steeped in Poison (2022) and A Venom Dark and Sweet, drawing on Chinese-influenced court intrigue and the ritual of tea-making to tell the story of a girl entering a poison-tasting competition to save her mother's life. She followed it with Song of the Six Realms (2024), a standalone fantasy romance rooted in the same cultural tradition, and The Dark Becomes Her (2024). In 2025 she wrote City of Echoes, launching the licensed Avatar Legends series set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender, which debuted on the New York Times bestseller list for young adult hardcover fiction. Lin's fiction is known for its sensory detail and grounding in East Asian folklore and cuisine.
