Justin Gustainis is an American author of horror and urban fantasy, born in 1951 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He began publishing fiction in the mid-1990s while continuing an academic career as a professor of communications. His novels include The Hades Project (2003) and Black Magic Woman (2008), the first in the Morris and Chastain series following occult investigator Quincey Morris and white witch Libby Chastain as they battle black magic and, later, demons unleashed by rogue government officials; the series continued through titles including Evil Ways, Sympathy for the Devil, Evil Dark, and Known Devil. He also created the Occult Crimes Unit Investigations series, blending police-procedural plotting with the supernatural.
