Kaaron Warren

Kaaron Warren is an Australian author of horror, dark fantasy, and science fiction, born in 1965 in Melbourne. Publishing short fiction since 1993, she has built one of Australian speculative fiction's most decorated bodies of work, winning multiple Ditmar, Aurealis, and Australian Shadows Awards, with nominations for the Shirley Jackson Award and World Fantasy Award. Her novels include Slights, about a woman who can see the ghosts of everyone she has ever wronged; Walking the Tree; Mistification; and The Grief Hole. Her 2025 novel The Underhistory won the Ditmar Award for Best Novel. Warren's short fiction, collected in volumes including Dead Sea Fruit and The Grinding House, has appeared widely in Year's Best anthologies, and she has served as a guest of honor at Australian speculative-fiction conventions.
