Kameron Hurley is an American science-fiction and fantasy writer born in 1980 in Washington state, who has lived in Alaska, South Africa, and Chicago before settling in Ohio. A graduate of the Clarion West writing workshop, she is best known for the Bel Dame Apocrypha trilogy, beginning with God's War (2011), a "bugpunk" series set on a war-torn desert planet, and for the Worldbreaker Saga, opening with the grimdark epic fantasy The Mirror Empire (2014). Her other novels include the standalone space opera The Stars Are Legion and the military science-fiction novel The Light Brigade. Hurley is also a prominent essayist; her collection The Geek Feminist Revolution won a British Fantasy Award for nonfiction, and she has won two Hugo Awards, for Best Fan Writer and Best Related Work.
