Kami Garcia

Kami Garcia (born 1972) is an American writer who worked as a teacher and reading specialist before turning to fiction. She co-wrote the Caster Chronicles with Margaret Stohl, beginning with Beautiful Creatures (2009), a young-adult fantasy set in the fictional town of Gatlin, South Carolina, following a boy who falls for a girl from a family of hereditary spellcasters called Casters; the novel became an international bestseller published in dozens of countries and was adapted into a 2013 film. Garcia and Stohl also co-wrote the companion Dangerous Creatures series. On her own, Garcia has written the Legion novels Unbreakable and Unmarked, both nominated for the Bram Stoker Award, and contributed to X-Files tie-in fiction. She also writes young-adult graphic novels for DC Comics, including Teen Titans stories illustrated by Gabriel Picolo.
