Karen Foxlee

Karen Foxlee is an Australian novelist born in 1971 who grew up in Mount Isa, Queensland. She worked for years as a nurse before earning a university degree in creative writing and publishing her first novel, The Anatomy of Wings, in 2008. She writes fiction for both children and adults that often carries a fantastical or historical edge, including Ophelia and the Marvellous Boy, a middle-grade fantasy loosely built around Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen," the companion novel A Most Magical Girl, and the adult novel The Midnight Dress. Her work has been recognized with Australian literary honors, including a Queensland Premier's Literary Award for an emerging author, and has been published in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
